Job description
City & Neighbourhood Services Department

There are currently eight permanent full-time vacancies – five in Duncrue Complex, one in Area East, one in Area North and one in Area West.

You will be responsible to the relevant line manager for:

  • Undertaking duties utilised in Waste Collection, Open Spaces and Streetscene Services (OSS) work to include streets, entries, parks, playing fields, landscaped areas, open spaces and waste facilities either individually or as part of a team.
  • Ensuring that all refuse and recyclable material is removed from household, industrial and commercial premises such as houses, shops, schools, business premises for appropriate disposal.
  • Removing and transporting priority waste to the designated transfer or disposal site, and ensuring segregation of waste to specified areas and locations for safe or special disposal e.g., fridge freezers and other items for recycling.
  • Carrying out priority cleansing duties that will enhance the appearance of the public realm such as street cleansing, land clearance, street washing, cleansing of street furniture, gum removal, graffiti removal, fly poster removal or obliteration.

  • Open Space & Street Scene– Managing parks, green spaces, and street cleansing operations.
  • Neighbourhood Development & Regeneration– Overseeingcommunity centres, health and wellbeing initiatives, active living, and community safety.
  • Regulatory & City Services– Providing environmental health services, dog and pest control, port health, emergency planning, and bereavement services.
  • Strategic Waste Management– Leadingwaste collection, recycling, and fleet management.

£13.4708 per hour plus 12.07 per cent to compensate for untaken annual leave entitlement
