Easington Colliery Primary School has an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our team as a Parent Support Advisor. This is a key post within our school which requires a highly efficient and effective communicator to liaise with relevant staff, parents and carers and outside agencies.

Role Overview

Parental influences have a powerful effect upon children's attitudes, achievements and life outcomes. The role of the PSA is to assist in tackling under‑achievement by working in partnership with families, parents, carers and children and young people in a school context to enable children and young people, particularly the most disadvantaged, to have full access to educational opportunities and overcome barriers to learning and participation.

The PSA will work directly with parents in a non‑judgmental way empowering them and their families to get the most out of the educational opportunities available. The PSA will focus their work on preventative and early intervention activities. They will work in a school context.

Employment Details

The working pattern is 22 hours over 3 days, 8am‑4pm Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, term‑time only.

The ability to converse at ease with customers and provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential for the post.

Pay Calculation

Standard term‑time only pay is calculated on the basis of the following:

  • Number of ‘teaching’ weeks – 38 weeks;
  • Public (bank) holidays – 1.6 weeks (8 days);
  • Individual leave entitlement - 5.4 weeks (27 days) or 6.4 weeks (32 days).

Individual leave entitlement is calculated on the length of continuous service. Employees with less than 5 years’ service will receive 27 days annual leave. Employees with more than 5 years’ service will receive 32 days annual leave. For example:

  • Calculation for employees with less than 5 years’ service: 38 weeks (term time) + 27 days (annual leave) + 8 days (public holidays) = 45 weeks’ pay, to be paid in 12 equal monthly instalments.
  • Calculation for employees with more than 5 years’ service: 38 weeks (term time) + 32 days (annual leave) + 8 days (public holidays) = 46 weeks’ pay, to be paid in 12 equal monthly instalments.
