Key Facts

Location: Town St Leonard's on Sea (cross‑site). Hours: 37.5 hours per week (full or part‑time). Salary: £31,049 – £37,796 per annum (pro‑rata).

Job Overview

We are looking to appoint a paediatric staff nurse to join our recently re‑figured service within the children's outpatients setting. The role will support the delivery of clinics including Asthma, Epilepsy, Diabetes, Bowel & Bladder. The service also supports specialist tertiary hospital clinics and includes nurse‑led testing in Endocrine and Allergy. Support will be provided by an OPD and Planned Care Matron.

Main Duties
  • Run delegated paediatric clinics ensuring high standards of the outpatient pathway.
  • Assist the Matron/Charge Nurse in clinic management.
  • Assess patient needs, implement evidence‑based care plans, document and sign care.
  • Provide nurse‑led clinics in specialty areas and maintain competency.
  • Communicate changes in patient condition to clinicians or nurses in charge.
  • Manage emergencies in line with Trust policy.
  • Support clinical assessments and investigations per local policy.
  • Obtain patient results via electronic systems respecting data protection.
  • Update clinic delay times verbally and electronically.
Qualifications
  • Evidence of diploma or degree level study.
  • Registered Paediatric Nurse on the NMC register.
  • Evidence of continual professional development.
  • Additional nursing qualifications such as A1/NVQ Assessor award or mentorship.
Experience
  • Recent experience within NHS or similar organisation.
  • Experience in acute care settings.
  • Knowledge of quality, audit and research.
  • Ability to manage a clinical caseload.
  • Up‑to‑date skills in BLS, drug calculation and infusion use.
  • Experience in paediatric outpatient caseloads.
  • Hospital environment experience.
