Optical Assistant

Are you a proactive, people-focused individual who loves helping others? Whether you’re experienced in optics or completely new to the industry with strong transferable skills, you could be the perfect fit for our team.

At Specsavers Waverley, we’re looking for someone who can bring enthusiasm, great customer service, and a willingness to learn. If you already have experience as an Optical Advisor or Dispensing Assistant and can dispense up to multifocal lenses, that’s a fantastic bonus — but if not, don’t worry. With the right attitude, passion for customer care, and eagerness to develop, we’ll give you all the training and support you need to thrive.

What We’re Looking For

You might already have:

• Experience as an Optical Advisor or Dispensing Assistant
• A passion for delivering excellent customer service
• Strong teamwork and good initiative
• Confidence using IT systems
• Great communication and listening skills
• A willingness to step out of your comfort zone and try new things
• Openness to feedback and personal development

But we’re also very happy to consider inexperienced candidates with strong transferable skills — for example, from retail, hospitality, call centres, care, or any other customer-facing role. If you’re friendly, motivated, and eager to learn, we want to hear from you.

Desirable Experience (but not essential)

• Previous work in a fast-paced customer service environment
• Experience in optics or audiology
• Basic knowledge of optical or audiology terminology
