Job summary

A healthcare organization in Rochester is looking for an Ophthalmic Technician I to deliver quality patient care through eye examinations and assistance in minor surgeries. This role requires attention to detail and friendly patient interactions. The ideal candidate has a high school diploma and preferably some experience in a medical setting. A certification as an Ophthalmic Assistant is a plus but not mandatory. Work will rotate between Pittsford and Greece, with a fixed schedule of 40 hours per week.

Job Title: Ophthalmic Technician I

Department: Optical

Location: Rotate between Pittsford & Greece

- 2 days Pittsford

- 3 days Greece

Hours Per Week: 40 hours

Schedule: 7:45am, 8:00am - 4:15pm, 5:00pm

SUMMARY:

As an Ophthalmology Technician, your attention to detail and knowledge in eye anatomy, diseases, symptoms, and ocular medicines contribute to the overall success of quality patient care.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Examinations & Testing. Uses proper precaution procedures and sterile techniques to administer all examinations and tests to patients
  • Documentation. Keeps detailed documentation of patient histories and examinations
  • Procedures. Assists doctor with patient care and in minor surgeries
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • None.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Preferred experience in an ambulatory medical setting but not required.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Friendly, courteous and patient service oriented
  • Certified Ophthalmic Assistant within 24 months of hire preferred.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

M - Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; Requires frequent walking, standing or squatting.

PAY RANGE:

$20.00 - $28.00
