Job summary

A leading fuel equipment manufacturer is seeking a team leader in Dundee to enhance operational excellence. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 2 years in a similar role with supervisory experience in a continuous improvement environment. Responsibilities include driving team performance, mentoring staff, and leading continuous improvement initiatives. Strong communication and problem-solving skills are essential. This is a full-time, on-site position requiring flexibility for day and back shifts.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan, coordinate, motivate and develop the team to drive operational excellence;
  • Act as a coach/mentor for direct reports and develop talent aligned to the Business Strategy;
  • Nurture a high‑performance culture throughout the workforce, dedicated to achieving stretched results;
  • Maintain and improve Environment, Health & Safety standards throughout the yard, warehouse and material handling area;
  • Lead and participate in continuous improvement initiatives to increase the ratio of value add to effort, by eliminating waste in the process;
  • Embrace the value of standard work – CI – new standard work – as our cycle of improvement;
  • Monitor quality standards are being maintained, troubleshoot and resolve;
  • Plan resources to ensure optimum staffing to meet production targets;
  • Prepare regular reports to measure and monitor results, improvements and status of projects.
Requirements
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience working in a similar position
  • Experience of working within a continuous improvement/ lean manufacturing environment
  • Previous supervisory experience, with a track record of having developed a multi‑skilled warehouse and material handling team.
  • Ability to deal with people at all levels. (shop floor – senior management)
  • The VSL must be able to step back and view the value stream from a broad perspective.
  • Experience of warehousing / material handling and yard areas is an advantage.
  • Experience of lean thinking, or alternatively be willing to work closely with a CI Leader to obtain this knowledge
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Good problem‑solving skills combined with an innovative approach.
  • Strong influencing leadership, coaching, motivational and people development skills. This person should have exemplary leadership abilities, be able to motivate individuals in the value stream to change.
  • Strong IT skills
  • Production planning and coordinating skills

This position is located in Dundee and full‑time on‑site presence is required.

Shifts will include day shift and back shift and you must be willing to work both shift patterns.
