About the role

We’re seeking a hands‑on Electrical Operations Engineer with a passion for safety and reliability to help power communities and protect critical infrastructure across our transmission network. As the technical lead for Electrical and Instrumentation in the West 5 region covering Bristol to Lockerly and down into the South West of England, you will be the key point of escalation, tackling complex challenges in the lengkap, enforcing rigorous safety standards, and driving performance that keeps energy flowing where it matters most.

This role is decisive and practical: you’ll pair technical authority with real‑world problem‑solving to ensure compliant, efficient operations every day. What You’ll Be Doing
  • Provide technical leadership and coaching to operational teams
  • Act as Authorising Engineer for multi‑discipline permits to work
  • Conduct competency assessments and workplace evaluations
  • Lead defect resolution and prioritise maintenance interventions
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and engineering standards
  • Support design studies with technical input on safety, maintainability, and cost
  • Participate in a 24/7 standby rota and act as Incident Controller during emergencies
About you

We’re looking for someone who has:

  • Strong Electrical and/or Instrumentation engineering knowledge
  • Experience working within a formal permit‑to‑work system
  • Excellent project and financial management skills
  • A deep commitment to personal and process safety
  • Knowledge of gas transmission regulations and procedures
  • Ability to build strong relationships across internal and external stakeholders
  • High standards of integrity and professionalism
Key Requirements & Experience
  • HNC (or equivalent) in a relevant engineering discipline
  • IOSH Managing Safely certification
  • Valid UK driving licence
  • Working towards Incorporated Engineer status – desirable
  • Degree in a relevant данных subject – desirable

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) clearance for this role.
