Job description

Mecsia is a leading UK provider of technical inspection, maintenance, and engineering services, aiming to transform the industry with a ‘Local Service, National Reach’ approach. The company has grown significantly through organic expansion and strategic acquisitions, including seven business units serving large clients in different sectors including Commercial offices, healthcare and educational facilities. Under private equity ownership since 2020, Mecsia has expanded to approximately 1,200 employees, including 700 engineers. In 2024, Mecsia was acquired by Synova, recognised as PE house of the year for four of the last seven years, who supports an ambitious growth strategy through service excellence and further acquisitions.

About the Role

This newly created role is central to the Group’s long-term growth strategy. The National Account Director will lead major client relationships from pre‑tender through to delivery, ensuring our national proposition is aligned with client needs and delivered to the highest standards. Working closely with senior leadership and operational teams across the Group, you will embed consistent service excellence, drive commercial performance, and support the development of a unified national delivery model.

Hybrid role with travel to Mecsia offices in Slough, St Ives (Cambridge), Dartford, Glasgow, Warrington, Gloucester, and East Grinstead, as well as client sites across the UK.

Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
  • Develop and implement account strategies aligned with Group objectives.
  • Lead and motivate Contract Managers and operational teams to achieve service excellence and financial targets.
  • Identify opportunities for account growth, efficiency, and innovation.
  • Promote a collaborative, safety‑focused culture across the organisation.
Operational Oversight
  • Ensure high-quality delivery of M&E maintenance services in line with contractual and industry standards.
  • Oversee resource planning, project delivery, and operational performance.
  • Implement and monitor KPIs, reporting frameworks, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Drive consistency and best practice across all contracts.
Client Engagement
  • Build strong, trusted relationships with senior client stakeholders.
  • Act as the primary escalation point for client concerns, ensuring timely and effective resolution.
  • Maintain visibility across accounts, proactively managing renewals, extensions, and upsell opportunities.
  • Represent Mecsia at client and industry events.
  • Take full ownership of account P&L, including revenue, margin, and cost control.
  • Support forecasting, budgeting, and aged debt management.
  • Analyse performance data to identify risks and opportunities, implementing corrective actions where required.
  • Ensure robust commercial management of variations, quotations, and contract renewals.
Business Development
  • Identify and pursue new opportunities within existing client portfolios.
  • Support tender submissions, bid strategies, and mobilisation activities.
  • Contribute insight and market awareness to the Group’s wider growth strategy.
  • Support the recruitment, development, and performance management of Contract Managers and operational teams.
  • Lead by example, promoting professionalism, accountability, and a strong safety culture.
  • Mentor colleagues and encourage collaboration across the wider Group.
Key Skills & Experience
  • Proven success in a senior leadership role within M&E maintenance, facilities management, or a related technical services sector.
  • Strong understanding of M&E systems including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and fire safety.
  • Demonstrable experience in financial management and P&L accountability.
  • Excellent client relationship, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Strong commercial awareness and the ability to influence at senior levels.
  • Competent user of CAFM systems (including Concept Evolution) and Microsoft Office.
  • Proactive, organised, and able to work effectively across multiple business units.
  • A collaborative leader with integrity, professionalism, and a commitment to Mecsia’s values.

Salary: up to £100k plus, car allowance plus performance related bonus
