Mobile General Maintenance Operative

Summary

NG Bailey Facilities Services are currently recruiting a Mobile General Maintenance Technician to join a market‑leading, forward‑thinking company to be part of a team looking after commercial buildings based in and around the Cambridge region.

You will undertake general tasks and semi‑skilled duties including, but not limited to: minor building fabric repairs, plumbing repairs and basic electrical repairs, weekly / monthly compliance tasks such as flushing and tap temperature checks. In addition you will be competent providing planned maintenance on emergency lighting and the changing of lamps and minor repairs.

Working hours are based on 40 hours per week from Monday to Friday 0800‑1630 plus overtime is available.

Key Deliverables
  • Provide general small repairs (including but not limited to re‑fixing door handles and fixing loose hinges or items).
  • Toilet seat re‑fixing and replacement if necessary.
  • Weekly & monthly planned maintenance tasks (fire alarm tests, water temperature recording, emergency lighting tests, etc.).
  • Minor plumbing repairs including tap replacements.
What we’re looking for

An experienced general maintenance operative with a work ethic focused on quality, ideally from a commercial maintenance environment, who has excellent communication skills at all levels. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a track record in delivering a range of skills and tasks including but not limited to:

  • Conducting minor plumbing and electrical repairs, ensuring systems are functioning effectively.
  • Demonstrate the ability to undertake scheduled PPM works independently, without the need for direct supervision.
  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM), including emergency lighting checks, plantroom inspections and low‑level maintenance activities within their area of competence.
  • Must have a driving licence.
  • Must be able to pass an enhanced DBS check.
Requirements
  • Experience of building maintenance.
  • Confident, enthusiastic and proactive.
  • Competent (through experience) in performing basic plumbing and electrical repairs.
  • City and Guilds from a trade or equivalent (desirable, not essential).
