As our Microsoft Cyber Security Engineer, you’ll be a key member of Cadent’s cyber security engineering team, focused on designing, implementing, and integrating security solutions across both IT and OT environments. You’ll lead on Microsoft technologies such as Sentinel, Defender XDR, and Entra ID, while also contributing to broader threat detection and response capabilities.

This is a hands‑on role that blends strategic thinking with technical delivery, offering exposure to critical national infrastructure and the opportunity to shape how Cadent defends against evolving cyber threats.

What you will bring:
  • 3+ years’ experience in cyber security or related fields.
  • Expertise in Microsoft Sentinel, Defender XDR, Defender for Endpoint, Azure, and Entra ID.
  • Experience operating in SOC or cyber security operations environments.
  • Familiarity with OT, SCADA, and IICS environments (desirable).
  • Strong understanding of SIEM, SOAR, log management, and automation.
  • Proficiency in scripting (e.g. PowerShell, Python) and event log formats (e.g. JSON).
  • Knowledge of threat modelling, attack vectors, and compensating controls.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g. SC-100, SC-200, CEH, CompTIA Sec+, Network+) and a degree in Cyber.
