Job Location: Main Campus - Crosby, MN

Position Type: Full-time (1.0 FTE, 80 hours/pay period)

Salary Range: $25.49 - $46.21

Job Shift: 8‑hour Evening Shift

A Day in the Life of a Medical Lab Scientist

As a Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) or Medical Technologist (MT), you play a crucial role in the healthcare process by conducting and analyzing various laboratory tests to facilitate the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of diseases. You will be tasked with obtaining, processing, and ensuring the integrity of blood and body fluids while following rigorous protocols to maintain accuracy and timeliness in results reporting. The work environment demands high attention to detail and the ability to operate complex laboratory equipment under sometimes stressful conditions. Collaboration with other healthcare providers is vital, as you will communicate critical test results and participate in continuous quality improvement initiatives. While primarily focused on laboratory duties, you may also supervise or lead teams, manage sections of the lab, or provide training and support to colleagues.

About the Laboratory Services Department

In our laboratory, we deliver accurate, timely, and vital diagnostic testing that empowers providers, specialists, and care teams to make informed treatment decisions. Whether analyzing blood samples, detecting infections, or identifying complex medical conditions, our lab professionals are integral to every department of the hospital and clinic. We operate in a high‑pressure environment, delivering real‑time results for emergency medicine, surgeries, and inpatient care. We support trauma cases, ICU patients, and complex disease management with rapid and specialized testing that ensures providers have the critical information they need when every second matters. From blood banking for transfusions to advanced molecular diagnostics, we are essential to hospital operations, patient safety, and treatment outcomes.

Qualifications
  • Provide a copy of the highest diploma or degree obtained
  • Medical Laboratory Scientist or Medical Technologist ASCP certification within one year of hire (ASCPi certification accepted as an alternative but certification must be obtained prior to start date)
  • Bachelor’s degree in chemical, biological, clinical, or medical laboratory science (international candidates must provide a foreign degree equivalency certificate)
  • Or Associate Degree in Medical Technology or Clinical Laboratory Science or HEW Certificate MLT
  • ASCP certification within one year of hire
Compensation and Benefits

Pay range is listed above; the actual pay rate offered is determined based on experience in this role.
