A regional healthcare provider in Salisbury is seeking a full-time laboratory assistant to support Blood Sciences. This role involves various tasks, including assisting with specimen reception, participating in a shift system, and maintaining laboratory competency. Candidates should have GCSEs in English and Maths, excellent keyboard and communication skills, and ideally some previous laboratory experience. The Laboratory Medicine department currently has a vacancy for two laboratory assistants. We are looking for a friendly and cheerful person, who is practical and has an interest in science. The role involves various duties in the Specimen Reception area of the Blood Sciences laboratory. There are also opportunities to be rostered into specialist areas within the laboratory, such as the Point of Care Testing Team.
The role is full time, 37.5 hours per week. After an appropriate period of training, the post-holder will be required to undertake participation in the shift system including weekend and bank holiday rotas.
The post-holder will be supported with training as required for the post and will be part of a support team. They will be required to maintain competency in all relevant areas of the laboratory. Previous medical laboratory experience would be desirable, but full training will be provided.
The successful candidate will be literate, numerate and have excellent keyboard skills.
The MLA team assist the medical and scientific staff in the general running of the department by performing a range of basic laboratory functions and data input to help deliver a service that enables high standards of patient care.
