Qualifications

  • Minimum of 10 years Power Plant O&M experience including extensive experience with turbines, generators, and rotating plant.
  • Knowledge of power plant operations associated with gas/steam turbines.
  • Experience with pressure/vacuum systems, pumps, turbines, and cooling systems.

The Role

We have an exciting new opportunity for a Mechanical Shaftline Engineer to join our team atRocksavage Power Station. This is a new key role created to strengthen our technical capability and support long term performance of our CCGT.

You’ll work closely with our Engineering Manager to focus on the performance of our gas turbines, steam turbine, and critical rotating plant machinery. You’ll play an instrumental part in shaping and delivering our shaftline strategy, which forms a core part of our wider engineering maintenance strategy.

What you’ll be doing

A summary of the key responsibilities:

  • Support the Engineering Manager in maintaining technical and safety competencies across our systems
  • Lead the planning, coordination, and supervision of outages, inspections, and reliability issues in line with the site engineering strategy
  • Actively participate in company/site HSE initiatives, including the HSE forum activities and procedure reviews
  • Provide supervision of contractors and hands on support as required
  • Support the Maintenance & Reliability Manager by utilising the MMS to maintain, service, repair, record history accurately to manage spares for all activities
  • Ensure compliance with plant and software modification procedures and company ISI’s and SSI’s
  • Contribute to the development and delivery of engineering projects, making sure they meet business plan requirements and ensuring the quality control of all work is in line with InterGen’s Quality Management System
  • Support the Engineering Manager and Mechanical Engineer during any forced outages to ensuring rapid mobilisation of the necessary resources and equipment
  • Ensure WOCs/RAMs produced are accurate and have sign off before delivering to the Safety Controller for Safety Document production
  • Work with procurement to ensure value for money when managing designated contracts, purchasing parts or carrying out projects
  • Contribute to the delivery of daily activities in line with plant priorities, supporting other areas of the business as needs arise

Education/Experience
  • Ideally, Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline however HNC/HND with sufficient experience also considered
  • A minimum of 10 years Power Plant O&M experience which includes extensive experience of Turbine, Generators and rotating plant is required
  • Knowledge of power plant operations and maintenance associated with gas/ steam turbines, permit for work systems, reading of technical drawings, computers, computer applications and computer aided Maintenance Management applications. Experience with pressure/vacuum systems, Rotating Equipment (pumps, turbines, compressors, etc) and circulating/cooling water systems and equipment.
