A leading engineering firm in Sheffield is seeking a Mechanical Fitter to work on a major overhaul project for high-speed trains in Manchester. The role requires a NVQ/SVQ Level 3 qualification in Mechanical Engineering or Maintenance, along with a Time Served Apprenticeship. Responsibilities include servicing and maintaining rolling stock, adhering to safety regulations, and working shifts. You will be based in Manchester, joining a team of over 80 professionals working on a major rolling stock overhaul project for the Class 390 Avanti High Speed Trains. You will be working as part of the overhaul team to service, maintain, repair and overhaul rolling stock and equipment, including the latest generation in train technology to laid down Vehicle Maintenance Instructions.
Ensuring all Overhaul activities are carried out in a safe, efficient and cost-effective manner, whilst constantly seeking to improve quality.

40 hours on ramp up - 48 hours per week once project is in full operation

19:00 hours to 06:00 hours / 20:00 hours to 07:00 hours

Pre 12 weeks: PAYE £17.67 per hour (28 days accrued leave) / Umbrella £22.73 per hour
Post 12 weeks: PAYE £17.67 per hour (33 days accrued leave) / Umbrella £24.15 per hour
Pre 12 weeks: PAYE £20.94 per hour (28 days accrued leave) / Umbrella £27.10 per hour
Post 12 weeks: PAYE £20.94 per hour (33 days accrued leave) / Umbrella £28.61 per hour
An additional retainer of £1.00 per hour on all hours worked will be payable.
This role is inside of IR35 regulations and therefore PAYE or Umbrella Company payment options apply.
