Overview

Hours: Full Time - 40 hours - Monday to Friday.

VINCI Facilities is seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer to join our Defence estate team in London. This key role ensures the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of mechanical systems across a high-security environment. Work within a respected facilities management company on a critical government site.

Purpose of Role

As a Mechanical Engineer within the Defence estate, you will be responsible for the inspection, maintenance, and repair of a range of mechanical systems and equipment. You will play a vital part in maintaining operational readiness, ensuring all works meet the highest standards of safety, quality, and compliance with VINCI Facilities’ procedures and Defence estate requirements.

Responsibilities
  • Carry out planned preventive and reactive maintenance on a variety of mechanical systems, including HVAC, plumbing, and plant equipment.
  • Diagnose faults and perform effective repairs to minimise downtime.
  • Ensure all tasks comply with Health, Safety, Environment and Quality (HSEQ) standards and site-specific procedures.
  • Record all maintenance activities accurately and maintain up-to-date documentation.
  • Work closely with other engineering disciplines and contractors to deliver seamless service.
  • Provide technical advice and support to colleagues and stakeholders as required.
Essential Qualifications/Skills
  • Experience: Proven background in a mechanical engineering role, with a strong understanding of building services or facilities maintenance.
  • Security Vetting: DV (Developed Vetting) clearance is essential due to the sensitive nature of the Defence estate.
  • Qualifications: Level 3 qualification in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent recognised certification).
  • HSEQ Training: Demonstrable commitment to health, safety, environmental, and quality standards.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and the capability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication and record-keeping skills.
