Job description

Mechanical Design Engineer

As a successful candidate you will form part of a multi‑disciplinary design team tasked with providing the processes and equipment that meet customer requirements, on time, to specification and within budget.

Responsibilities

• Take full responsibility for the detailed design of process plant elements within your remit.
• Provide detailed design analysis from first principles, translate designs into 3D CAD models, generate bills of material and create manufacturing drawings for in‑house manufacturing departments.
• Identify, analyse and resolve engineering problems while recognising when to seek support from senior colleagues.
• Interact with colleagues at all levels, suppliers and customers.

Essential Experience Required For This Role

• Experience creating and maintaining CAD models and files (AutoCAD Inventor).
• Experience in a design role within a manufacturing/engineering environment.
• Ability to create and interpret engineering drawings to a high standard.
• Higher National Diploma (minimum) in Mechanical Engineering.
• Experience creating suitable working drawings for the following manufacturing departments:
  • Machine Shop
  • Press Shop
  • Fabrication/Welding

Desirable Experience (Not Essential)

• Experience with P&IDs and plant and equipment specification.
• Pressure vessel design to PD5500/EN13445.
• Some process knowledge would be an advantage.
