Job description
Overview

This role is within Materials Laboratory – The role will focus on delivering material testing and reporting out the test results and addressing the quality issues in applications of materials.

Area of Responsibility
  • Preparation of test facility and/or test materials to enable effective and timely analysis.
  • Delivery of materials test activities within the laboratory, to defined procedures and processes.
  • To collate, manipulate and interpret data which will be used to inform engineering decisions, to communicate out results in an easy-to-understand format.
  • Provide test expertise and interpretation on supplier delivered reports where techniques used are relevant.
  • Manage laboratory equipment to enable continued effective operation.
  • Maintain facility to high standards including 5S and safety activity.
  • Undertake any other work as directed by their line manager in connection with their job as may be requested from time to time.
Knowledge / Experience
  • Min GSCE or equivalent in Maths, English and a science discipline; Preferred: Materials/ Mechanical Engineering graduate/undergraduate level.
  • Knowledge of automotive systems / interactions.
  • Understanding of Materials science.
  • Knowledge of materials testing.
  • IT skills to use standard Office applications and IT hardware.
  • Ability to plan multiple tasks and deliver to agreed deadlines.
  • Driving Licence.
