eLife is looking for a Marketing Assistant or Marketing Executive (dependent on experience) to join its vibrant marketing and communications team. Involved in all aspects of marketing, this is an opportunity to gain hands‑on experience in a supportive and innovative organisation.

Experience and attributes

You will be working as part of a small team where each day is different with real opportunities for learning and growth. The successful candidate will need to be independently motivated, flexible, responsive and willing to take on a variety of tasks. In addition the ideal candidate should have:

  • An undergraduate degree
  • One or two years’ work experience is desirable but not essential
  • Excellent communication skills – spoken and written
  • Experience of Hubspot is desirable but not essential
  • Knowledge of reporting platforms and paid advertising channels is desirable but not essential
  • Excellent organisational skills and an eye for detail
  • Ability to deal with a number of tasks simultaneously
  • Good IT skills including using MacOS, Google Suite, MS Office, and contact databases
  • Ability to work as part of a dynamic team but take responsibility and to use own initiative when necessary
Specific responsibilities
  • Communications – Support the promotion of eLife initiatives, occasionally taking responsibility for their planning.
  • Events – Organise eLife participation, sponsorship and shipping for scientific meetings and campus‑level presentations.
  • CRM – Supporting the maintenance of our CRM system, ensuring data is clean, up‑to‑date, and GDPR‑compliant.
  • Email – Help manage and maintain the email marketing pipeline with support from the wider team.
  • Advertising - Support the Senior Marketing Manager in maintaining our advertising schedule.
  • Reporting – Monitoring and reporting on the performance of marketing efforts using a variety of analytics tools
  • General administration – Other duties as needed to support the marketing and communications team.
Terms and conditions

The post is a permanent position, 37.5 hours per week, and offers a competitive basic salary in the range of £25,000-£30,000 (depending on experience) and benefits. The eLife office is based in Cambridge, but we will consider candidates wishing to work on a remote or hybrid basis. A requirement for this role is at least one day a month in the office and occasional ad‑hoc travel to our storage facility in Cambridge.
