Job Title

Market Constable (Security/Enforcement Team Member)

Location

New Spitalfields Market

Salary

£41,248 – £45,555 (inclusive of Inner London Weighting, 14.28% contractual hours payment and 22% unsocial hours payment)

Hours and Contract

Contractual Hours: 40 hours per week, 12‑hour shifts with one hour paid lunch break, over a 14‑week roster cycle, Mon to Sun, including Bank Holidays.

Basis: Permanent

Workplace category: Workplace based

Responsibilities
  • Create a safe, secure and well‑regulated trading environment 24 hours a day.
  • Maintain order, prevent/detect crime, enforce site rules, assist with health and safety matters, and manage on‑site traffic.
  • Deal with enquiries and complaints, monitor CCTV, carry out patrols on foot, test fire protection systems and procedures, and deliver first aid.
  • Build good relationships with market tenants and customers.
  • Work 12‑hour shifts to provide 24/7 cover, 365 days a year.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Significant security or enforcement experience.
  • Ability to deal calmly with emergency situations and confrontations.
  • Good customer service skills.
  • SIA accredited, certified in First Aid at Work, and trained (or willing to undergo training) in use of a defibrillator.
  • Knowledge of fire safety, CCTV and ANPR systems.
  • Ability to use a computer for basic administration and to write short reports.
