A leading veterinary pharmaceuticals company in Skipton is seeking a Manufacturing Technician for a 12-month fixed-term contract. You will ensure product quality per GMP standards while training others and maintaining a clean, safe environment. The ideal candidate will have good Health & Safety knowledge and effective communication skills. Manufacturing Technician - Early Shift - 12 month FTC

Manufacturing Technician - Early shift - £14.64 per hour equivalent

The role is a Fixed Term Contract of 12 months.

Monday - Friday 5.30am - 2.00pm with every other Friday off - salary £27,406.08 (£14.64 hourly equivalent). We work a 9‑day fortnight! Based at our Skipton, North Yorkshire manufacturing site. Please only apply if you live within a commuting distance of Skipton BD23 2RW.

The Role

So, what will you be doing? This role has a broad and varied remit and the successful candidate will have responsibility for duties including:

  • Manufacture product to high standard ensuring the quality of those products is in accordance with the set GMP standards and Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Attend and comply with any planned in‑house training or on the job training.
  • Capable and willing to train others in the team.
  • Ensure the efficient and safe use of plant and equipment.
  • Keep strictly to manufacturing methods as laid down in the documentation and raise any issues or errors with the Manufacturing Supervisors or Manager.
  • Ensure all equipment is clean and maintained in good working order and where deficiencies are found, escalating to a supervisor.
  • Maintain the highest standards of housekeeping, cleanliness and personal hygiene within the department.
  • Notify the Manufacturing Manager, Supervisor or Senior Manufacturing Technicians as a matter of urgency if there has been any serious failure of safety or GMP which could affect staff safety or product quality or operational efficiency.
  • Identify any issues and attempt to resolve these and escalating if it cannot be resolved.
  • Support Operational Excellence incentives to drive and improve efficiency.
About You

A self‑motivated enthusiastic individual who can work well within a team environment performing manufacturing activities including the operation and cleaning of equipment, while completing associated documentation accurately and in a timely manner, in line with strict procedures. A person with a positive attitude who can constructively challenge others as well as give and receive feedback in a respectful and professional manner whilst demonstrating the Dechra values.

Essential
  • Good knowledge and understanding of Health & Safety compliance.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with both peers and senior members of staff.
  • Ability to work in a manual role with good dexterity.
  • A positive attitude.
  • Local to our Skipton site.
Desirable
  • Experience of low to medium volume manufacturing/packaging, manual/semi‑automated manufacturing processes.
  • Proven industry experience from a highly regulated GMP manufacturing/packing facility, either from the Pharmaceutical or similarly regulated industry/environment.
  • A working knowledge and practical experience of pharmaceutical manufacture, continuous improvement activities and ability to manage time and workload effectively.
