Our client is a leading manufacturer of temporary and permanent power distribution solutions across the UK and Europe. With a strong reputation for technical excellence, safety, and customer satisfaction, we deliver critical infrastructure to commercial, industrial, and event sectors. As we enter our next phase of growth, we are seeking a dynamic and commercially astute Managing Director to lead our business into the future.

The Opportunity:

We are looking for an ambitious MD to take the helm. This is a pivotal leadership role, responsible for driving growth, ensuring operational excellence, and delivering sustainable profitability.

You will be an experienced senior manager or director, with a technical understanding, who has demonstrable experience managing sales growth, maintenance of margin, and the working capital cycle in an SME setting. You will be financially literate and have clear commercial experience in the power generation industry encompassing temporary power, site distribution, and switchboards. You will be able to work closely with the Board to shape the company’s direction in a competitive and evolving market.

Reports to: Board of Directors.

Responsibilities
  • Provide strategic leadership and direction to all areas of the business, ensuring alignment with company goals and values.
  • Drive revenue growth through the development of new business opportunities and expansion of existing client relationships.
  • Oversee financial performance, ensuring profitability and sustainable margins across all areas, and effectively manage the working capital cycle of the business.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop the 2nd tear management team, and BDM.
  • Ensure operational efficiency, compliance, and safety across all projects and services.
  • Represent the company with key clients, suppliers, and industry stakeholders.
  • Identify and capitalise on emerging trends in temporary and permanent power distribution.
Qualifications and experience
  • Combined commercial and operational leadership experience in an SME setting is essential.
  • Proven leadership experience in the electrical services or power distribution sector, with a strong understanding of both temporary and permanent power.
  • A hands‑on, entrepreneurial mindset with a focus on profitability, quality, and customer service.
  • Degree in business, engineering or comparable industry experience.
  • A working knowledge of CAD, or similar is desirable.

Location: Sandwell

Salary: £80,000 - £90,000 /annum
