National Gas is the backbone of Britain\'s energy system. We\'re responsible for securing the UK's energy, whilst leading the way to a net-zero future. We keep gas moving safely and reliably to power stations, industry and over 23 million homes. As the UK transitions toward a net-zero future, we’re also pioneering new solutions such as hydrogen transmission to help decarbonise the energy sector.
As a Management Degree Apprentice, you’ll be based in our Warwick office while travelling to sites across the country to see major projects in action. You’ll study for your degree at Henley Business School while gaining hands on experience supporting the upgrades, construction and innovation that keep our network running. It’s an environment where your work will directly contribute to keeping the nation’s energy secure today and shaping a cleaner, more sustainable system for tomorrow.
A degree apprenticeship is a brilliant option if you’re looking to gain a degree whilst hitting the ground running in the world of work. You’ll kick-start your career blending academic study with work-based learning. You’ll split your time between learning out on site, working alongside experts solving real-world problems, and attending dedicated training and study days. You’ll work from our Warwick office and travel to different project locations across the region.
The Major Programmes team plays a key role in shaping the future of the Gas National Transmission System. They work out what changes or upgrades the gas transmission network needs, why those changes matter, and how they should be delivered. This includes working with engineering, commercial, project delivery and regulatory teams to plan investment, explore options, build business cases and support projects through their lifecycle.
As an apprentice joining the team, you won’t be expected to make major technical decisions or lead projects, but you will get hands on experience across the whole development and planning process.
As a Management Degree Apprentice, you’ll:
We’ll work closely with your university to review your progress at regular intervals, providing feedback and guiding your development. You’ll have a tailored personalised plan that ensures you have appropriate support and training. Most of your learning will be on the job, with off-the-job training and one-to-one tutoring. Your apprenticeship will end with the completion of a dissertation and an End Point Assessment.
Successful apprentices will have the option to apply for professional recognition as Chartered Managers and Members of the Chartered Management Institute (CMgr MCMI) and/or as a member of the Institute for Leadership & Management or other relevant professional body.
You’ll be someone able to communicate clearly and concisely, as you’ll be influencing colleagues across the business, bringing them on a journey with you with your projects. Being able to build relationships quickly and having ‘softer skills’, will really help you thrive in this role. You’ll take pride in your work, be proactive and enjoy ‘getting stuck in’.
You’ll need to be comfortable with travel, as you’ll be visiting operations sites and hold a UK driving license.
This is a 3-year fixed-term degree apprenticeship. To be considered for this scheme, you’ll need:
