About The Role

Job Purpose

The Maintenance Support Engineer will be responsible for the smooth operation of all plant and equipment within the facility. You will maintain, troubleshoot and repair machinery, systems and equipment to maintain safety functionality, maximise production efficiency, minimise downtime whilst following site HSEQ standards and guidelines.


Responsibilities


  • Maintenance Activities: Perform preventive and reactive maintenance troubleshooting as required to resolve automation, electrical, mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic issues on site machinery and equipment as determined by the Maintenance Shift Leader.

  • Compliance and Safety: Ensure all work adheres to the sites HSEQ procedures, policies and standards. Conduct task risk assessments (pre-emptive and dynamic) and follow health, safety, and environmental policies.

  • Technical Support: Assist the Project Manager with the installation, commissioning, and modification of equipment.

  • Interpretation of Technical Drawings and Documentation: Interpret technical drawings and documentation for troubleshooting and repairs.

  • Contractor Management: Proactively manage contractors to ensure they can perform their duties in line with the business needs and policies.

  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate maintenance records and provide reports to the Maintenance Shift Leader. Follow the Management of Change process as required. Prepare and record information necessary to deliver project work in compliance with the Project Management Standard.

  • Collaboration and Communication: Attend safety, production and team meetings as required. Work and communicate closely with other engineering teams and the production teams to ensure efficient operations. Ensure detailed hand backs and handovers are completed for every task and end of shift.

  • Training and Development: Identify, participate in and provide training identified by the business to meet legislation, enhance skills and knowledge.

  • Flexibility: Stand in for Maintenance Shift Leader as required. Support Operations At Other Brewdog Sites Occasionally If Required.

  • Ensure that Health and Safety guidelines and fire regulations are strictly adhered to at all times

About You

Qualifications & Specific Training


  • Level 3 (or recognised equivalent qualification) in an Engineering discipline.


Experience


  • Proven experience in a maintenance role within the food and beverage or a similar high‑paced manufacturing environment.

  • Demonstrated ability to interpret technical documentation and drawings.

  • Hands‑on experience in troubleshooting and resolving mechanical, electrical, and automation failures.

  • Knowledge of PLCs, automation systems, and control systems is highly desirable.

  • Familiarity with food safety standards, GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices), and HACCP.

  • Delivery of capital and improvement projects to a recognised methodology is highly desirable.


Knowledge


  • Strong understanding of food safety regulations (e.g., HACCP) and industry best practices.

  • In‑depth knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and automation systems.

  • Familiarity with Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) for tracking maintenance activities and work orders.


Skills


  • Strong problem‑solving abilities and diagnostic skills.

  • Excellent teamworking and good communication skills (both verbal and written) to liaise effectively with production teams and external stakeholders.

  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
