Maintenance Operative
Band 3 - 37.5 hours per week

You will carry out routine maintenance on a range of Trust properties across the Stockport area.

Reporting directly to the Estates Management Team, you will have basic knowledge of building and mechanical services.

The postholder will be employed to carry out maintenance work on non-complex engineering and building issues appropriate to their skills throughout Stockport NHS Foundation Trust premises comprising mainly of the Stepping Hill Hospital site.

With a maintenance works background, you will need to possess effective written and oral communication skills, be an enthusiastic team player with a positive attitude and flexible manner.

You will be required to work rostered overtime and participate in the On-Call rota for inclement weather using the Estates vehicles as required.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be required to have an understanding of hospital services.

To undertake unsupervised planned maintenance and repair work to electrical and mechanical services and equipment as required.

To apply a basic understanding over a range of elements to carry out repairs and tasks e.g replacing toilet seats, unblocking drains, repair areas of brickwork, patch plastering, relamping light fittings and tiling etc.

Use relevant tools and equipment for example manual and power tools, aluminium tower scaffold erection and authorised driver of Trust vehicles.

Demonstrate a basic knowledge of workshop and site safety practices.

Assist higher skilled grades on planned maintenance such as Theatre maintenance and repair work.

Carry out installation, repairs and planned preventative maintenance on all aspects of non-complex building, electrical and mechanical services and equipment.
