Maintenance Engineer – Glasgow
We are seeking an experienced Maintenance Engineer to join a dynamic team in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment. The role is essential for ensuring reliability, efficiency and safety of the plant and equipment.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform planned preventive maintenance (PPM) and reactive repairs across the site.
- Respond quickly to breakdowns, perform fault‑finding and repair.
- Log work, root causes and materials in CMMS.
- Support engineering activities: commissioning, installations, relocations and plant/equipment modifications.
- Read and interpret technical drawings, troubleshoot under pressure.
- Work across both electrical and mechanical faults and maintain both.
- Identify and implement process and machine improvements.
- Carry out special projects and progress reporting to Engineering Management.
- Adhere to safety, food safety, GMP and UK standards.
- Provide guidance and support to junior engineers.
- Travel for sites or overnight stays when required.
Qualifications & Experience
- Time‑served or recognised apprenticeship (or equivalent) in engineering.
- Minimum 2–3 years in a maintenance/repair/installation role in manufacturing (FMCG, food, pharma preferred).
- Full qualification in both mechanical and electrical engineering.
- Experience with PPM, CMMS, and operation of PLC, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Excellent communication, teamwork and customer‑service skills.
- Valid driving licence (for van travel) and willingness to travel away if needed.
- Knowledge of food safety legislation and health & safety standards.
- Preferential: CSCS, ECS Gold, IPAF 3a/3b, First Aid.

Contract & Working Hours
Contract: Permanent / Full‑Time
Salary: Competitive (approx. £43,000–£48,500)
Shift Pattern: Monday to Friday, 12‑hour rotational shifts (4 days on / 2 days off) or night shift (4 on / 4 off) depending on team arrangement.
