Job description

We are seeking an experienced Mainframe Project Manager to lead and deliver complex mainframe initiatives on a contract basis. The ideal candidate will have hands‑on experience with z/OS environments, IBM Z tooling, and a proven track record of delivering on‑time, within‑scopeimpact, and within‑budget projects through effective governance, risk management, and stakeholder engagement.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead end‑to‑end delivery of mainframe projects (e.g., COBOL/CICS/DB2 modernization, batch scheduling, application migrations, containerization strategies, or performance tuning).
• Define project scope, goals, milestones, timelines, budgets, and resource plans; manage changes via a formal change control inciding.
• Develop and maintain project artifacts: project plan, RAID log, communications plan, status reports, and executive dashboards.
• Coordinate cross‑functional teams (business, IT, QA, infrastructure, vendors) and manage third‑party vendors/partners.
• Ensure adherence to standards, security, compliance, and regulatory requirements related to mainframe environments.
• Monitor and mitigate project risks; manage issues, dependencies, and escallation paths.
