Legal Counsel, EMEA

As Legal Counsel, EMEA, you’ll be part of Authentic Brand Group’s Business & Legal Affairs Department, responsible for drafting and negotiating key fashion, entertainment, and media deals (including IP license agreements) in tandem with business development and brand management teams. You’ll regularly interact with Authentic’s Intellectual Property Department and other internal business units (Marketing/Communications, Finance, Operations, etc.). You are detail‑oriented, highly motivated and adaptable, focusing on fashion, entertainment, and media licensing for our portfolio of 30+ brands. You possess excellent communication skills, articulating IP licensing positions that balance business needs with risk mitigation and an eye on achieving business results. Your work will be at the highest precision, fast pace, and collaborative with a sophisticated in‑house team of experts. You are a driven performer who thrives in a fast‑paced environment. Tasks include reviewing, negotiating, and drafting long and short‑form trademark license agreements, retail and/or e‑commerce operations, permission and clearance agreements, term sheets, sponsorship/endorsement agreements, event agreements, influencer agreements, sweepstakes/contest rules, and settlement agreements.

Responsibilities
  • Draft, review, and negotiate agreements related to intellectual property licensing (trademarks and copyrights), entertainment, fashion, and media marketing (e.g., influencers and talent), e‑commerce, and general commercial matters.
  • Provide advice on trademarks and other intellectual property issues.
  • Coordinate directly and efficiently with business development, brand management, and marketing teams.
  • Enable the business to achieve targets while respecting company principles and applicable laws, embedding these principles into processes and decisions.
  • Implement and oversee corporate policies, procedures, and programs.
  • Assist in‑house and outside counsel with ongoing general matters for the Legal Department as required.
  • Embrace opportunities to learn, respond constructively to feedback, and manage expectations responsibly.
What You’ll Be Working On
  • Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a broad range of agreements, including long‑form and short‑form trademark license agreements, retail and e‑commerce operations, permission agreements, term sheets, sponsorship/endorsement agreements, event agreements, influencer agreements, sweepstakes/contest rules, and settlement agreements.
  • Providing IP and legal counsel to support business initiatives.
  • Coordinating with cross‑functional teams across authentic’s global brand landscape.
  • Ensuring compliance and timely execution of agreements and corporate procedures.
  • Working with senior leadership to emphasize strategic legal and IP priorities.
  • Supporting external and internal counsel with day‑to‑day matters for the Legal Department.
Must Haves
  • Qualified lawyer (England & Wales, or US).
  • 3‑6 years of law‑firm or equivalent in‑house experience at a consumer product, media/entertainment, or technology company.
  • Proven ability to accept and act on instructions for specific assignments and general policies.
  • Track record of ownership and accountability for projects, duties, and tasks.
  • Success at managing up, asking clarifying questions, and aligning on projects and duties.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • English fluency (required); additional languages a plus.
  • A passion for the intersection of fashion, entertainment, business, and law.
