Job description

Join to apply for the Learning Resource Volunteer - Volunteer role at Ethiopian Hospital Schools.

Create simple, self‑explanatory English and maths worksheets for Ethiopian pupils (Grades 1–6) receiving hospital care. Using provided textbooks, design or find engaging A4 sheets for printing and laminating. The role is flexible, remote, and requires a few hours a week for 2–3 months.

Our Mission

At Ethiopian Hospital Schools, we strive to ensure that children receiving long‑term medical treatment can continue learning, growing, and feeling connected to their education. Many of our pupils are receiving cancer treatment and spend months in hospital, far from their classrooms and friends. For these children, learning provides knowledge, comfort, normality, and hope. The worksheets you create will fill a critical gap, giving teachers and children useful, adaptable tools for independent learning.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Source or create engaging, self‑explanatory worksheets in English and maths for Grades 1–6.
• Ensure worksheets are clear, visual, and accessible for Ethiopian learners, with minimal written instructions.
• Organise materials by subject and grade level, ensuring they are progressive.
• Submit completed worksheets electronically for printing and laminating.
• Work independently while communicating with the small team and meeting agreed deadlines.

Responsibilities
  • Create or find suitable worksheets in English and maths, aligned with the Ethiopian school curriculum, using supplied textbooks and grade‑level guidance.
  • Organise materials by subject and grade level, ensuring they build confidence and skills over time.
  • Ensure accessibility by incorporating clear examples, minimal text, and visual cues.
  • Submit completed worksheets electronically to the charity team for printing and laminating.
Qualifications
  • Creative, organised, and passionate about helping children learn in challenging circumstances.
  • Experience in teaching, tutoring, or developing educational materials is essential; a qualified teacher is not required.
  • Good eye for presentation and awareness of how to make tasks appealing and easy to follow for a wide range of learners.
  • Comfortable working independently, managing time, and communicating clearly with a remote team.
  • Basic computer skills, such as downloading, editing, and formatting documents.
