Lead Full Stack Engineer for London-based startup.

Our client is an ed-tech start-up that’s modernising how schools identify andsupport neurodiverse students. Here are some details from their team:

Our automated testing tool enables schools to assess their entire student base quickly and efficiently. Our mission is to help schools identify students in need as early as possible to ensure they get the best start in life. We launched in September 2024 with our Dyslexia test and now have over400 schools on our platform and 1000s of tests completed. Our next focus ison scaling and expanding into new areas including ADHD, and Dyscalculia.

The Role

We’re looking for a Lead / Senior Software Engineer who loves writing clean,efficient code and solving complex problems - someone who’s ready to takeownership of big projects now, and grow into a leadership role as we expand.In the short term, you’ll work with our existing developer, reporting to ourHead of Product, and be hands-on with our platform, shipping features,improving performance, and helping us deliver our ambitious productroadmap. Over time, you’ll have the opportunity to shape our long-termtechnical strategy, influence architectural decisions, and help recruit andmentor the team that will build future.

Your Responsibilities
  • Hands-on coding: Write high-quality, maintainable code in Next.js,React, GraphQL, and Supabase.
  • End-to-end ownership: You’ll be responsible for working with designto build out specifications, estimate and breakdown features intotasks, build, QA and deploy.
  • Shape our architecture: Contribute to technical decisions to ensurethe platform is robust, scalable, and easy to maintain. If you’ve gotideas on how we can improve our platform, we want to hear it (andwhy it’s a good idea!)
  • Grow into leadership: Start taking on some team managementresponsibilities, help shape engineering culture and best-practices, andguide our development team’s growth as we scale.
Your Skills
  • Hands-on and adaptable: You love being in the thick of developmentand can shift gears quickly when needed. Adaptability is key. The worldis moving fast and we need to move faster.
  • Comfortable across the stack: Advanced skills in Next.js, React,GraphQL, Supabase, Vercel, and Google Cloud Platform.
  • On top of best-practices: You should value best-practices that ensurequality output - things like continuous deployment, testing, codereviews, pair programming and retros.
  • Some leadership experience: You have an interest in management,and have had some experience leading a squad or small teampreviously.,
  • Open to AI: You understand the practical applications of LLMs (notjust hype) and see how AI can improve personalisation in technology.You might also use it in your own work and understand how to increaseproductivity without sacrificing quality.As a person, we want you to be reliable, willing to take on responsibility,comfortable with pressure and a great communicator.
