Job description

The Lawn Maintenance Field Supervisor oversees the operations of 5-8 lawn maintenance crews including quality control, managing labor and materials in conjunction with the budget. Reports directly to the Grounds Maintenance Division Manager.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Responsible for managing, supporting, and coaching the field supervisors and technicians primarily through mowing operations but will work closely with the Enhancement Operations manager on spring & fall cleanup operations.
  • Responsible for daily scheduling of Maintenance crews while efficiency through routing and quality standards, controlling all non-productive time and budgets are met.
  • Responsible for training new and existing field supervisors and technicians as necessary.
  • Manage to the budgeted labor hours ensure weekly hours and OT and Indirect time are being managed.
  • Oversee and validate accuracy of daily data from tablets and or timesheets.
  • Perform disciplinary action, performance appraisals, coaching and other employee related activities for field supervisors and technicians. Make recommendations that influence employee’s hiring, firing, promotions, and other employment decisions.
  • Use company software to estimate landscape services order to support the Sales Team.
  • Meet individual annual enhancement sales goals of $50,000 and renewals of 90%.
  • Responsible for inspection of properties on site and utilizing Aspire software ensuring that quality is always met. This includes completing the monthly Quality Inspection Form for each property through the tablet.
  • Develop solid relationships with all our vendors and subcontractors and negotiate all the pricing for equipment, rates and bulk yard materials while keeping the best interest of the company in mind.
  • Maintain continuous communication with peers and participate in safety/operations meetings and other company-wide initiatives as needed.
  • Identify equipment and truck needs and work closely with the mechanic to ensure that all equipment is ready for all seasonal changeovers.
  • Responsible for making sure all policies and procedures are being followed per the employee handbook.
  • Manage necessary documentation such as accident reports, employee related documents, sales and others as needed.
  • In the Winter months manage a Snow Zone/Area and or Plow/Salt Truck and managing subs.
  • May perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from four-year College or University; or two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Valid driver’s license and good driving record are a must.
  • Ability and knowledge to identify various plants, shrubs, and other herbaceous plants as well as weeds, pests, insects, diseases, moss and plant disorders to be able to answer customer’s questions on a daily basis.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
  • Intermediate personal computer skills, including routine database activity, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Ability to pass drug screening.
  • Safely perform heavy liftings, pushing or pulling of various landscaping equipment and materials. Including, but not limited to, various sizes of lawnmowers, backpack blowers, large containers of mulch or plant materials, etc.
  • Safely operate hand and power equipment.
  • Lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Work hours vary and may exceed 10 hours per day at times.
  • Work in extreme weather conditions (heat, cold, precipitation).
  • Noise level may be loud at times and use of ear protection may be required.
