The role

Our work is all about securing the land rights required to develop the proposed 400kV overhead lines, underground cables, and substations that will keep the country powered with clean, sustainable energy. It’s a crucial role – one that blends the expertise of a land agent with the complexities of large‑scale utilities projects. If you’ve worked in land management, you’ll know that no two days are the same, and that’s certainly true here at SSEN Transmission. A typical day might involve:

  • Preparing necessary wayleaves and compulsory purchase orders.
  • Liaising with landowners and occupiers over proposed route and site selection.
  • Assessing the impact of infrastructure on land and businesses.
  • Negotiating wayleaves or servitudes and ensuring best practice in land management.
  • There’s also a strong element of valuation ограничений and compensation assessment, making sure agreements are fair and balanced for all parties involved.
