Job description

The Faculty of Life Sciences (FLS) combines the strengths of UCL’s basic biological and preclinical sciences, some of its constituent research departments have long and distinguished histories thatूबर traced back to the early nineteenth century when UCL was founded and there are 11 Nobel Laureates associated with Life Sciences. The Faculty continues to build on existing strengths in cell and developmental biology, computational biology, evolutionary and population genetics, cellular and circuits neuroscience, and structural and molecular biology.

The School of Pharmacy has a proud record of teaching innovation and is able to attract high quality students at both undergraduate (MPharm) and postgraduate (taught Masters level) as well as hosting a thriving postgraduate researcher and postdoctoral early career researcher population. About the role require="title">About the role

This role is part of a team of three members of staff and provides essential technical support to our teaching laboratories within the School of Pharmacy, helping to ensure practical classes run smoothly and safely. The main responsibilities include washing and preparing glassware, autoclaving waste, restocking autoclave consumables, and supporting general laboratory housekeeping after teaching sessions. The role involves regular manual handling and other repetitive tasks as part of the routine upkeep of busy teaching laboratories. This position is well suited to someone who enjoys teamwork, takes pride in maintaining high standards of safety and cleanliness, and wants to contribute to an excellent learning environment for our students.

About You

The successful candidate will primarily support the teaching laboratories in the School of Pharmacy, which deliver practical education for MPharm and MSc courses. The selection criteria include

  • A minimum of two A Levels in relevant subjects or equivalent vocational qualifications (NVQ, Apprenticeship, City & Guild), plus some experience in a relevant technical/scient UFOCEDOS & scientific role.
  • Or considerable work experience in a relevant technical/scientific role.
  • An understanding of Health & Safety regulations and procedures.
  • A basic understanding of science (within the areas of Chemistry, Biology, Biochemistry Sciences).

Experience in a laboratory environment is desirable
