Job summary

A growing organisation in Belfast is seeking an L&D Specialist for a newly created position. You will lead site inductions, maintain SOP training materials, and help ensure compliance in training programs. The ideal candidate will have proven experience in Learning & Development within a manufacturing environment, with strong skills in delivering SOP-based training and conducting Training Needs Analysis. L&D Specialist - Newly created position

MCS Group is delighted to partner with a growing organisation as they look to add an L&D Specialist to their team, in this newly created role.

The role:

This role is ideal for someone who understands the realities of a production environment and enjoys turning procedures into practical, effective training. You'll play a key role in ensuring our people are inducted correctly, trained consistently, and supported in their ongoing development, with a strong focus on SOP training and compliance.

The main responsibilities:
  • Lead and deliver site inductions for all new starters.
  • Own, maintain, and continuously improve Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and related training materials.
  • Plan and deliver new-hire training programmes, including refresher training cycles.
  • Ensure all SOP training is delivered, recorded, and auditable in line with manufacturing and compliance requirements.
  • Support managers and employees with development plans, skills matrices, and progression pathways.
  • Carry out Training Needs Analysis (TNA) across production and support functions.
  • Work closely with Production, Quality, and H&S teams to ensure training reflects current processes and best practice.
  • Track training completion, competence, and re-certification where required.
  • Continuously look for opportunities to improve training effectiveness on the shop floor.
The ideal candidate:
  • Proven experience in Learning & Development or Training within a manufacturing / production environment.
  • Essential: Strong experience delivering SOP-based training.
  • Comfortable training operators, team leaders, and supervisors on the shop floor.
  • Experience leading inductions and structured onboarding programmes.
  • Able to conduct Training Needs Analysis and translate it into practical training plans.
