We are seeking to appoint suitably qualified, enthusiastic and committed Primary Teacher to join our successful Junior School from April 2026 until June 2026 on a maternity cover basis.

We have 1 position available in our upper primary;

Our Junior School caters for approximately 600 children from Nursery through to P7. Our staff work hard to ensure that we provide a happy, safe and stimulating learning environment for every child placed in our care. Through being part of such a positive and supportive community, our pupils can develop the confidence to embrace their learning, benefit from the myriad of opportunities in and beyond the classroom and thrive on the challenge and support offered to them.

We welcome applications from suitably qualified Teachers, candidates may be expected to teach across the full range of levels in Junior School.

Appropriately qualified and successful teacher of Primary Education – registered with/eligible for registration with GTCS (essential attribute)

  • Proven ability to relate well to and communicate effectively with parents, staff and pupils.
  • Enthusiasm, resilience and warmth
  • Understanding and commitment to the Heriot’s aims and values.
  • Confidence and ability to deal with sensitive issues affecting pupils and parents
  • Ability to prioritise effectively and to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.
