Job description
The Role

As an IT Engineer, you will provide technical leadership and support to IT projects and programmes, working with project managers and technical leads, to deliver IT solutions.

Day-to-day, you’ll use your SME knowledge to lead the delivery of complex technical tasks, as directed by the Technical lead, to support the delivery of projects. This will include customer and stakeholder engagement, applying your skills to tasks including Design, Implementation, Integration, Test and Evaluation.

Your responsibilities will include:
  • Technically lead small projects or parts of larger projects through managing a small technical team to deliver solutions using best practice
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with customers
  • Working to time and budget, the candidate will be responsible for identifying problems, providing pragmatic solutions and delivering outputs
Essential experience of the IT Engineer:
  • Experience of working with a broad and comprehensive range of concepts and principles within the areas of IT
  • Has commercial awareness and understanding of the market relevant to their discipline
  • Broad experience of Windows Client/Server Infrastructure, Networking, Virtualisation (Hyper-V)
  • Proven interpersonal/communication skills in order to convey complex information
  • Experience of working on a range of engineering projects
Essential qualifications for the IT Engineer:
  • A degree in Science or Engineering, or an equivalent, nationally recognised, professional qualification

This role is 37 hours per week based at Farnborough. Travel to other QinetiQ and customer sites will be expected.
