Information Specialist: Martha’s Vineyard Chamber of Commerce

In-Person Position • Must Reside on Martha’s Vineyard

Position Overview The Martha’s Vineyard Chamber of Commerce is seeking a friendly, knowledgeable, and service-oriented Information Specialist to join our team. This in-person role is based at our Visitor Center in Vineyard Haven and plays an essential part in welcoming guests, supporting members, and serving as an ambassador for the Island. The ideal candidate loves Martha’s Vineyard, enjoys helping people, and is energized by a fast-paced and community-focused environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Greet visitors and provide accurate, helpful information about Island attractions, dining, transportation, lodging, activities, and events
• Answer phone calls, emails, and walk-in inquiries with professionalism and warmth
• Assist with the distribution of brochures, maps, guides, and promotional materials
• Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming Visitor Center environment
• Support Chamber membership by directing inquiries, sharing member benefits, and reinforcing the value of the Chamber
• Assist with seasonal visitor surges and special programs, including events and promotions
• Update and restock displays, collateral, and printed materials as needed
• Support administrative tasks such as data entry, ordering supplies, and maintaining records
• Represent the Chamber’s mission and brand with enthusiasm and community pride
• Provide occasional on-site support for Chamber events (Business After Hours, holiday programs, media visits, etc.)
• Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and ongoing visitor-service excellence initiatives

Qualifications

• Must live on Martha’s Vineyard year-round
• Strong knowledge of the Island’s towns, businesses, amenities, and seasonal rhythms
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Warm, welcoming, and customer-service driven demeanor
• Comfortable with technology, including email, simple data entry, and visitor CRM tools (training provided)
• Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently
• Ability to stand for periods of time and assist with light setup or organizing tasks
• Prior customer service, hospitality, nonprofit, or tourism experience is a plus

Work Environment

• In-person position based at the Visitor Center in Vineyard Haven
• Hours vary seasonally, with increased activity in spring, summer, and fall
