The role is hybrid however the post holder would be required to work from Birmingham City Council buildings as business needs dictate.

We’re looking for a dynamic and motivated Independent Travel Training Team Lead to oversee and drive the performance of our dedicated team within The Independent Travel Training Team in the Children and Young People's Travel Service (CYPTS). In this pivotal role, you’ll help lead the Independent Travel Trainers, ensuring that essential travel services are delivered efficiently and effectively.

This is a pivotal role where you will lead, motivate, and develop a dedicated team.

  • You will work in partnership with our schools, colleges, social workers, and families.
  • You will lead and support the delivery of risk assessments and journey planning, ensuring they are correctly assessed, reviewed for children and young persons.
  • You will deliver and mentor Open Awards Level 2 travel training qualification to internal and external stakeholders.
  • You will monitor risk assessment outcomes to ensure the Council s statutory duty is fulfilled in the undertaking of home to school travel assessments, planning of travel solutions and reviews for eligible children and young people through our appeals process.

You will have good knowledge of SEND and possess experience of working with children and/or young people. You will be responsible for leading a team of Independent Travel Trainers undertaking applications and risk assessments for children and young people accessing travel assistance through CYPTS.
