We are seeking a Data Privacy Lawyer to join our in-house dataprotection compliance team on a 6-month fixed-term contract.

Our Team

Our in-house Privacy team advises on all internal legal matters, withprimary responsibility for the UK and EU, but increasingly on a globalbasis. Squire Patton Boggs is one of the world's strongest integratedlegal practices and our Data Protection, Cybersecurity & DigitalAssets Practice Group has been named one of the top 25 GDR Elite forthe past two years.

The principal role of the In-House Data Privacy Lawyer is to adviseand support the Data Protection Officer and the Office of GeneralCounsel on data protection (DP), cybersecurity and e-privacycompliance across the global firm. You will be involved with:

  • advising on issues arising under the UK and EU General DataProtection Regulations (UK and EU GDPR), including complexinternational data transfers that are inherent to a global law firm;
  • supporting DP and security due diligence assessments on thirdparty vendors, including contract reviews, and contributing to dataprotection impact assessments;
  • providing pragmatic advice/legal guidance on HR-related DP issues,including Workplace Culture and Development programs;
  • advising on training and awareness programs, and building toolsand resources to support good data governance and the firm's DPobligations under the GDPR and other privacy regulations, across allbusiness functions and legal practice areas;
  • identifying and addressing privacy compliance gaps as part of theannual policy review cycle;
  • supporting the firm's employees involved in DP compliance acrossall business functions and practice groups with pragmatic andcommercially aware advice/guidance;
  • working with the firm's global privacy legal team to incorporatecompliance requirements in other jurisdictions, including CCPA,China PIPL, into the firm's compliance regime;
  • participating in regular discussions with the global privacy legalteam and the global privacy steering committee;
  • providing advice/guidance in relation to e-privacy compliance inthe marketing area; and
  • supporting the firm's response to data subject requests and otherDP-related compliance initiatives.

The successful candidate can be based in any of our UK locations,with options to work flexibly and/or remotely if required.

You

We are looking for a qualified solicitor (5+ PQE) with experienceadvising on, and managing, data protection and privacy matters. Youmust demonstrate a strong commitment to a specialisation in dataprivacy matters, have the drive and ability to deliver high-qualitywork and be pro-active in supporting a strong privacy-orientated culture.

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual with a professionalapproach, good people skills, solid commercial awareness, and theability to work as a team player across all levels and business functions.

You will be coming either from an in-house privacy role or from areputable law firm.
