Overview
The ILS engineer provides an embedded support capability as part of the Systems Engineering function to collaboratively establish and maintain an Integrated Logistics Support backbone. Working within Systems Engineering, this role continues to evolve with the logistic support model, establishing a robust support planning capability that will underpin future support opportunities for CLS execution.
The scope includes Design for Support, and all pillars of ILS, with particular focus on Supportability Analysis, Logistic Support Analysis, Maintenance Policy and Planning, training development and detailed Through-Life support modelling. This role will be required to manage various ILS work packages and provide confidence to our customers that our products and services are robust, reliable and cost effective.
Key Responsibilities
- Capture and analyse ILS requirements for new projects, including Design for Support, Supply Support (including LSAR), maintenance, repair, technical documentation, disposal and training.
- Support bid and proposal development, producing ILS scope statements, deliverable lists, and input to cost and schedule estimates.
- Provide ILS analysis for specific projects and products (RAM, FMEA, LORA, LCCA, etc).
- Generate obsolescence management plans and associated data reporting mechanisms.
- Collaborate with all business functions to ensure an integrated approach to logistic support.
- Proactively seek opportunities for continuous improvement in ILS practice, tools and processes.
Skills & Experience
Essential
- A level of knowledge and understanding of what ILS is and the scope of support functions.
- Experience in ILS products and analysis.
- Ability to estimate tasks with accuracy and work to budgets and schedules.
- Effective communicator with internal teams and external customers.
Desirable
- Proven experience in obsolescence management and lifecycle reporting.
- Experience in developing training needs analyses and training plans.
- Initiative in continuous improvement activities.
