Job Description

An ideal opportunity for an enthusiastic individual to gain experience in a HR department as a start to their HR career. The HR Apprentice will support and learn from a busy HR department, which consists of:

  • A team of 5 business partners (2 based in the UK and 3 based in the US)
  • An operations team of 2 responsible for the employee life cycle, pay and benefits
  • A talent acquisition team of 3
  • A rewards / HRIS team of 4
  • A learning and development team of 2 (1 is a placement student)

The apprentice will support an efficient HR administrative service for the HR Team and our c 520 employees (UK, US and Europe), whilst gaining experience of a wide variety of HR processes.

Job Responsibilities
  • Monitoring and responding to first level employee queries through our askHR inbox, including holiday cancellations and absence amendments in PeopleCORE (HR systems).
  • Assist with shortlisting and interview coordination by scheduling interviews efficiently in collaboration with the Talent Acquisition team and hiring managers, ensuring compliance with IMCR policies.
  • Prepare offer letters and draft employment contracts for new starters, ensuring all required documentation is collected promptly.
  • Coordinate the starters and leavers process, including reference checking, reporting and communicating with other relevant departments.
  • Set up and manage arrangements for all new hire inductions including slide preparations, collating induction packs, arranging lab tours.
  • Manage all aspects of training: booking trainers, candidate registration, meeting invitations, distribution of pre‑work, booking rooms and catering.
  • Arrange and collate exit interviews and report on trends/analysis.
  • Maintain complete and accurate electronic employee files.
  • Contribute to HR projects focused on diversity, inclusion, engagement, and wellbeing, helping to promote a positive and inclusive workplace culture.
  • Work alongside operations colleagues to provide guidance to managers and staff on policies, procedures, and best practice.
