Job Description

As a Host(ess) in our care home, you play a pivotal role in creating a warm, welcoming, and enjoyable dining environment for our residents. Your primary responsibility is to ensure a high quality of food and beverage service within the care home, with a focus on adhering to therapeutic diets, correct portioning of foods, and proper serving methods. By doing so, you contribute to providing an enticing dining experience that enhances the overall well-being of our residents.

Key Responsibilities
  • Greet residents and guests with a friendly and welcoming demeanor.
  • Escort residents to their tables and assist them with seating arrangements.
  • Ensure that tables are set appropriately and are visually appealing.
  • Take food and beverage orders from residents, ensuring accuracy and attention to special dietary requirements.
  • Familiarise yourself with the dietary needs and restrictions of each resident.
  • Ensure that meals are served in accordance with prescribed therapeutic diets and portion sizes.
  • Maintain a clean and organised dining area, including clearing tables, sanitising surfaces, and resetting tables for the next meal service.
  • Adhere to all food safety and hygiene protocols.
  • Report any safety concerns or maintenance issues to the appropriate managers.
  • Communicate effectively with residents and their families, addressing any concerns or requests promptly and professionally.
  • Collaborate closely with kitchen team and other team members to ensure a smooth dining service.
  • Having a one team approach to activities and lifestyle where all team members from all departments get involved in delivering activities to create a fun and vibrant environment for residents and team alike.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with all residents, family, visitors and colleagues.
  • Dress as per company policy, immaculate at all times.
  • Provide an outstanding level of customer service.
  • Communicate resident concerns, needs and requests to relevant team.
  • Liaise with the care team concerning any changes in a resident’s dietary habits, especially where a resident refuses food.
  • Complete mandatory training specified during induction and thereafter to ensure competence to fulfil the role.
  • Attend team meetings and training sessions as required for better performance of duties.
