Job description

Join to apply for the Homes Tester, Good Housekeeping Institute role at Hearst UK.

The Good Housekeeping Institute has been the beating heart of the Good Housekeeping brand for over 100 years. In our state‑of‑the‑art testing facility in West London, we put thousands of products to the test every year, rigorously reviewing them against their claims, so our readers know they can trust our recommendations.

The Role

You will work closely with the other Testers and the Home Operations Manager to familiarise yourself with the testing protocols and process of coordinating a test. You will also work independently when leading a testing project. You may be involved in internal meetings with key stakeholders from the editorial, digital, and commercial teams, which may, at times, involve sharing feedback on testing results and learnings.

Main Duties
  • To test products as per the content calendar and the requirements of the accreditation team. The results will need to be analysed and added to our product database.
  • To sustain high testing standards and levels of consistency.
  • To check editorial proofs and artwork for factual information, process, and stockists.
  • To be involved with providing video content for editorial and commercial clients.
  • Able to demonstrate practical skills and demonstrate keen interest in home appliance products.
  • Must be computer and AI‑literate.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, as there will be interaction with both internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills — be able to multitask and be a problem solver.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Ability to deal with high volumes of work accurately and to meet deadlines.
  • Must have a can‑do attitude with the ability to work under pressure, be enthusiastic, and proactive.
  • Act as an ambassador to the Good Housekeeping brand, including being well‑versed in product testing and Good Housekeeping history, leading tours of the GH Institute, and participating in outside media coverage opportunities.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, current affairs, breaking news, key conferences/issues, and general outreach.
What We Are Looking For
  • An inquisitive, enthusiastic, and collaborative approach to work
  • Strategic thinking
  • Operational excellence
  • Project management
  • Creativity
  • Trend insight
  • Technical skills (e.g., training in using our product database, where all our reviews are housed)
  • Professional development (e.g., training in how to confidently test a variety of product categories)
  • Working confidently with data and insight, and emerging AI tools
