Penrose Court Care Home is a 65-bed, private, luxury service located in a desirable development in Biggleswade. Providing high-quality nursing, residential, and dementia care across three beautifully designed floors, the home enjoys an excellent local reputation, loyal families, and a Good CQC rating.
This vacancy arises following the planned retirement of a long-standing and highly respected Home Manager, whose clear vision was to lead the home from Requires Improvement to Good – a goal she successfully achieved following acquisition. Her leadership has left Penrose Court in a robust, stable, and commercially strong position, ready for its next chapter.
We are now seeking an experienced, commercially minded Home Manager to build on these foundations and lead the home through its next phase of growth.
Salary up to £85,000 per annum
Annual performance bonus of up to 40% (KPI-linked)
Private Medical Insurance
Pension scheme
5.6 weeks annual leave
Penrose Court is currently operating at approximately 88% occupancy, with a strong average weekly fee and a predominantly private-pay resident profile. The home is well positioned within its local market and offers significant opportunity to further strengthen its reputation, optimise occupancy, and enhance commercial performance.
In this role, you will have full accountability for the clinical, operational, and commercial success of the home. Over the next 12–24 months, your focus will be on consolidating quality, growing occupancy (particularly with self-funders), maintaining strong governance, and continuing to develop a high-performing, stable workforce.
This is a hands-on, visible leadership role for a Home Manager who enjoys ownership, accountability, and the satisfaction of driving an already good service to become exceptional.
You are an experienced Home Manager with at least three years’ senior leadership experience, ideally within a nursing or dementia setting. You are commercially astute, confident managing budgets, and experienced in driving occupancy, workforce stability, and performance.
Whether nurse-qualified or non-nurse, you are clinically credible, comfortable overseeing nursing practice, engaging with external professionals, and ensuring safe, high-quality care is delivered consistently across the home.
You are calm, visible, and decisive. You lead with clarity, fairness, and empathy, creating an environment where teams feel supported, accountable, and proud of the care they provide. You understand how strong culture directly impacts recruitment, retention, quality, and commercial success.
Penrose Court requires a leader who values consistency, professionalism, and people. You will be present, approachable, and clear in your expectations, supporting teams to perform at their best while holding standards firm.
You will communicate confidently with families, regulators, and stakeholders, building trust through transparency, credibility, and emotional intelligence. This is a role for someone who wants to build on success, not fix failure.
Penrose Court is part of Care Concern Group, a family-owned provider with over 130 care homes across the UK. We support our leaders with autonomy, structure, and strong regional oversight, enabling you to focus on what matters most: people, performance, and quality.
