Westmorland and Furness Council, Highways and Transport service, is hiring a Highways Network Engineer. This is a secondment opportunity and an excellent step for candidates with experience in highways, transportation, and construction backgrounds who want to join a large, thriving organisation.
Assist in leading the Furness area Highways team, managing, preparing, designing, and processing highway improvement and maintenance projects, and undertaking inventory collection. Carry out activities relating to surveys, design, specification, data collection, and input.
Strong communicators who can provide technical advice and guidance on specifications, standards for highway design and maintenance, and the application of legislation, regulation, policy, and principles to both internal and external Council customers. Candidates should have significant experience in highway, transportation, or construction design, sound knowledge of local government, and familiarity with construction contracts, highway maintenance activities, and national design standards. Winter Maintenance experience is desirable but not required; full training and support will be provided. Candidates must work well under pressure, be effective team members, and drive innovation and motivation throughout the team and service.
