We are looking for a highly motivated individual to be a key player within this service; this will be an opportunity to expand your managerial responsibilities and experience.

The successful candidate should hold a recognised device qualification such as BHRS, IBHRE or EHRA. You should have experience as a cardiac physiologist/healthcare scientist and will have completed a relevant cardiology qualification. If you are working toward a recognised device qualification, a developmental role will be considered.

Experience working in cardiology technical services will be required, both invasive and non‑invasive investigations and procedures.

Our mission is to improve the health and quality of life for our patients by building an organisation that develops and invests in the individuals who work here; this can only be achieved by recruiting the right people.

The Royal United Hospital Bath has a strong ethos and commitment to training and is committed to developing the future workforce for cardiac physiologists and healthcare scientists.

Responsibilities
  • Work independently at a highly specialist level in the management of simple and complex cardiac devices during implant and follow‑up, including ILRs.
  • Optimise device programming, document interventions and liaise with medical staff in accordance with departmental and BHRS guidelines.
  • Ensure device implants and follow‑ups are accurately recorded in line with departmental documentation and audit requirements.
  • Undertake and report remote monitoring for all devices, ensuring timely review and appropriate escalation.
  • Manage departmental device queries and referrals (e.g. MRI, radiotherapy, surgery, patient transfers) within appropriate timeframes, following department protocols.
  • Take responsibility for stock management, ordering, rotation and traceability of device‑related equipment.
  • Provide physiological support for cardiac catheterisation laboratory procedures as required (e.g. PCI, left/right heart studies, IABP support).
  • Support non‑invasive cardiology investigations.
  • Take responsibility for the day‑to‑day organisation of assigned work areas, including room preparation, equipment checks, safety checks and stock maintenance.
  • Maintain competence and accuracy in the use of departmental IT systems, electronic patient records and data management software.
  • Contribute to the supervision, training and assessment of colleagues, students and visiting staff.
  • Participate in appraisal, mentorship and management processes and contribute to staff development and performance review.
