Job summary

A leading educational institution in England seeks a dedicated Head of Year to enhance student wellbeing and foster personal development. This role requires energy, adaptability, and a commitment to nurturing a supportive school community. The Head of Year will champion student engagement, manage safeguarding issues, and implement key policies. A positive attitude and the ability to build strong relationships with students, staff, and parents are essential. The position is permanent, 37 hours per week, term-time only.

Are you dedicated to creating a supportive and inclusive school community? As a Head of Year, you will champion student wellbeing, break down barriers to learning, and nuture personal development. Your leadership will help students flourish both academically and emotionally, fostering a culture rooted in care, resilience, and success.

The Head of Year
  • Have bags of energy and enthusiasm, along with the ability to adapt quickly to a fast‑paced, diverse school environment.
  • Promote a positive, optimistic attitude to learning and achievement and act as a role model.
  • Provide support to individual, and groups of students, promoting pupil engagement.
  • Deal with safeguarding issues and act as designated safeguarding lead.
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships and partnerships working with student, staff, parents and other stakeholders.
  • To implement school systems and process in relation to attendance, behaviour and other key policies.
  • Develop a mentoring relationship with students needing particular support, aimed at achieving the objectives in their individual action plans.
  • Attend review meetings (including safeguarding meetings, as appropriate).
  • To undertake any other jobs, commensurate to the role
