# Head of FinanceRef no:: 455232Published:: 13/01/2026Closes:: 01/02/2026Location:: Fife House, North Street, Glenrothes, Fife, KY7 5LTSalary:: £120,596 per yearContract Type:: PermanentPosition Type:: Full TimeHours:: 36 hours per weekWork From Home:: HybridThe application page will open in a new window.### About the Role* Ensure robust financial management and reporting across the Council, promoting effective planning and decision-making.* Lead a team of around 100 staff, including finance operations, business partners, internal audit, risk management, and pensions.* Drive innovation and change, optimising resources and technology to deliver efficient financial, internal audit, and pension services.* Advise senior leaders and elected members on financial strategy, risk, and compliance, safeguarding the Council’s interests.* Develop and oversee the Council’s capital investment plan and revenue budget process.* Provide expert guidance on pension fund administration and investment strategies and manage delegated investment decisions.* Represent the Council externally, building strong networks with local authorities, government, and public agencies.### About you* Qualified accountant (member of a CCAB body) with significant experience leading finance functions in complex organisations.* Track record of successful financial management, strategic planning, and risk management.* Proven ability to provide trusted advice to senior stakeholders in political and partnership environments.* Strong leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and develop teams, champion change, and deliver results.* Up-to-date knowledge of accounting requirements, regulation, and best practice.* Excellent communication, advocacy, and partnership skills.* Experience in audit, risk management, and treasury management is desirable, as is commercial awareness and understanding of the national agenda influencing local government in Scotland.### Special ConditionsThis post is politically restricted under the Local Government & Housing Act 1989.
