Overview

The Group HR Director will work closely with the CEO and COO, aligning our people, structures, and capabilities with the strategic goals of the business. Balancing big-picture vision with hands-on execution, the successful candidate will lead a confident and solutions-focused HR function, responsible for all aspects of people and culture across the Group. The remit includes the full spectrum of human resources leadership, including talent acquisition, organisational design, leadership development, employee engagement, performance management, and cultural transformation. A key focus will be the ongoing integration of The Lakes Distillery into the Nyetimber Group, ensuring consistency and alignment of HR systems, policies, processes and values across organisations and during the transition.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive HR strategy aligned with Nyetimber’s commercial objectives and long-term growth ambitions.
  • Drive a high-performance culture that reflects the company’s values, encouraging engagement, collaboration, and innovation.
  • Lead cultural transformation initiatives to support business growth, change management and employee experience.

Reporting and Communication

  • Maintain a regular reporting structure to the leadership team on all people-related matters, including workforce planning, talent development, and organisational health.
  • Ensure open, transparent, and strategic communication with leadership, providing insights and recommendations on HR initiatives that support business growth.

HR Operations & Compliance

  • Ensure all HR policies, procedures, and operations comply with employment laws, industry regulations, and best practices.
  • Oversee HR systems and technologies to improve operational efficiency and data-driven decision-making.
  • Assess and mitigate people-related risks, ensuring business continuity and compliance with legal standards.
  • Talent Acquisition & Workforce Planning: Oversee recruitment strategies to attract and retain top talent as the business grows; implement employer branding initiatives to position Nyetimber as an employer of choice in the luxury sector.
  • Oversee the integration of The Lakes’ HR strategy and operations into the Group, developing and implementing a comprehensive HR framework to ensure a seamless transition.

Learning & Development

  • Design and implement training programs that drive professional growth and support leadership excellence.
  • Foster a culture of continuous learning with access to best-in-class development opportunities.

Compensation, Benefits & Performance Management

  • Oversee the development of competitive compensation and benefits structures to attract and retain top talent.
  • Implement performance management frameworks that ensure accountability, continuous feedback, and recognition of excellence.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • Proven track record of senior HR leadership, preferably in entrepreneurial or growth-mode businesses, with the ability to scale HR functions and operate in a fast-paced, innovative environment.
  • Ability to develop, execute, and refine a robust strategic people plan with agility for growth and changing priorities.
  • Strong relationship-building skills at all levels, collaborating with the senior leadership team to align HR strategy with commercial goals.
  • Commercially focused, solutions-driven mindset, balancing strategic objectives with practical HR solutions.
  • Strategic leadership with a broad overview of HR operations while remaining engaged and approachable to the HR team.
  • Proven ability to drive change and build a high-performance culture in a dynamic business.
  • Excellent leadership and people management skills, with the ability to inspire and develop teams and drive accountability.
  • Strong negotiation and influencing skills at all levels.
  • High ethical standards and commitment to Nyetimber’s values and integrity.
  • Ability to act as a trusted advisor, sustaining confidentiality and championing HR governance and compliance.
  • Experience in founder-led or family-owned businesses is advantageous.
