Graduate Fire Safety Engineer (Scotland)

Company: Amentum. Location: Glasgow, Scotland, United Kingdom.

Join our Graduate Programme starting September 2026. As a Graduate Fire Safety Engineer you will work with our Fire Safety Engineering team in the Energy division, supporting challenging Nuclear, Defence and building projects. Responsibilities include producing building fire strategies, performing fire and explosion assessments and designing fire and explosion protection systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the production of building fire strategies.
  • Conduct fire and explosion assessments.
  • Design fire and explosion protection systems and arrangements.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across the UK and beyond.
Qualifications
  • Undergraduate or Master’s degree in Fire Safety Engineering or a STEM degree, completed by summer 2026.
  • Strong technical document authoring experience.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team and independently.
  • Excellent organisation, time management and multitasking skills.
  • Ownership mentality, curiosity and proactive learning.
  • Permanent right to work in the UK.
Desirable but not essential
  • Design engineering experience for suppression, alarm and detection systems.
  • Exposure to building code and life safety code analysis.
  • CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) modelling and analysis experience.
Graduate Programme Requirements
  • First degree completed no earlier than summer 2024.
  • No prior work experience in a similar professional role since graduation.
  • A minimum 2:2 classification in first degree.
