Thistle Seafoods is one of the largest family‑owned manufacturers of quality seafood products in Europe. We supply outstanding products at every price point to leading retail and food service customers within the UK, Europe, USA, Canada and Australia. Our Head Office is based in Peterhead in the North‑East of Scotland, and our second site is located in Uddingston on the outskirts of Glasgow.

The Role

The Graduate Trainee Account Manager will work as part of a team focused on maintaining relationships and increasing sales with current own‑brand label customers, as well as securing contracts with new customers. To achieve this, the post holder must have a sound knowledge of the Company’s products and play a key role in the development and launch of new products.

Key Responsibilities
  • Managing sales to customers as designated by the Commercial Director and other Company Directors.
  • Completing administrative duties as directed by the National Account Managers and Commercial Director.
  • Identifying any issues with regards to sales and highlighting them to the appropriate member of the team.
  • Proactively contacting customers to maintain a high level of service, whilst identifying and exploiting opportunities for profitable growth.
  • Generating sales to existing customers.
  • Securing new customers.
  • Keeping accurate records.
  • Developing and implementing key sales, promotional strategies and joint business plans with customers.
  • Building strong relationships with retail buying teams.
  • Negotiating prices.
  • Introducing new products.
  • Developing new business opportunities.
  • Contributing to the overall commercial strategy and growth of the business.
  • Monitoring stocks and sales data.
  • Supporting and actively promoting brand integrity and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) by ensuring engagement and communication between teams, customers and suppliers that continually drives improvement.
  • Undertaking tasks as directed by the Directors and/or Senior Managers.
